A Robin's Song
As the leaves fall and the garden goes into hibernation, little wildlife can be found in and around the garden. But there is one friend that you can also count on being there, the Robin. Standing tall and proud he sings his song through the coldest of winter days.
A number of techniques and mediums were used in the creation of this piece. The background is fabric painted and the Robin and rose stem were achieved through quilting, applique, embroidery, techniques. These techniques create the different textures from the warm feathers of the Robin to the throny rose. Unfortunately, the three-dimensional relief doesn't show particularly well in the photos, so please take a look at the depth of the piece to get an idea of the overall effect.
