All For One And One For All

These three-week-old Mallard ducklings have got quite accustomed to wading through the water and are increasingly more adventurous. Being that little bit larger means a tasty meal of a larger size is more appealing and achievable. These three siblings seemingly have the same thought as three small fish swim in the water below. With a bustle of action, they work together to catch a fish. But alas, these fish are too fast and quickly scarper into the cover of the weed.

A number of techniques and mediums were used in the creation of this piece. The background is fabric painted and the duckling, fish, weed, and water line were achieved through quilting, applique, embroidery, textile techniques. These techniques create the different textures from the warm  feathers to the delicate leaves.
