Barn Conversion
Nestled high in the rafters of an old barn, a pair of Swallows have made their nest. Made from mud, water and the odd bit of dried grass, its cup-like shape holds three precious baby Swallows. They sit huddled together waiting for a delivery of food, and when one arrives they call madly to be fed first. With beaks open wide they look longingly up at their mother.
A number of techniques and mediums were used in the creation of this piece. The background is fabric painted and the swallows, nest, and dried grass were achieved through quilting, applique, embroidery, textile techniques.
