Berries For The Picking
Its that time of the year in the garden when the leaves have left their branches and in their place berries hang. These red succulent fruits are too tempting for the red-breasted robin who intends to swallow this one whole.
A number of techniques and mediums were used in the creation of this piece. The background is fabric painted and the robin, branch, stems and berries were achieved through quilting, applique, embroidery, techniques. These techniques create the different textures from the warm feathers of the robin to the silky skin of the berries. Unfortunately, the three-dimensional relief doesn't show particularly well in the photos, so please take a look at the depth of the piece to get an idea of the overall effect.
