Caught In A Shower

Caught In A Shower

This young, playful fox cub hasn't long emerged from his den, being curious, he decides to ventures a little further. With a head now full of new senses, he happily smells through the rhubarb patch. When suddenly he feels wet, "Why, what was that?". Rain is a whole new experience for this fox and he's not sure he is all that keen! So he quickly takes shelter under a large rhubarb leaf and watches as raindrops splash onto the leaves above and drip down beside him.

A number of techniques and mediums were used in the creation of this piece. The background is fabric painted and the fox, leaves, rain drops and stems were achieved through quilting, applique, embroidery, textile techniques. and beading. These techniques create the different textures from the warm  fur to the shinny droplets. Unfortunately, the three-dimensional relief doesn't show particularly well in the photos, so please take a look at the depth of the piece to get an idea of the overall effect.
