Cotton Mouse

The soft cushiony ball of the cotton plant makes the perfect perch for this little Woodmouse to survey the surrounding area. With his head up high he smells the air filled with the sweet scent of cotton breeze.

A number of techniques and mediums were used in the creation of this piece. The background is fabric painted and the mouse, cotton balls, leaves and stem  were achieved through quilting, applique, embroidery, techniques. These techniques create the different textures from the warm fur of the mouse to the delicate, soft cotton. Unfortunately, the three-dimensional relief doesn't show particularly well in the photos, so please take a look at the depth of the piece to get an idea of the overall effect.
