Deep Amidst The Honeysuckle
Whilst waiting for a dormouse to appear from its nest in a honeysuckle (An Evening Glow on Dormouse Home) I watched a bee fly through the rays of sun as it made its way through the depths of the honeysuckle to find the nectar. As I waited the evening closed in and all that was left, was the last light casting a deep blue glow all around. The bee was still busy at work holding on to the last warmth of the sun.
A number of techniques and mediums were used in the creation of this piece. The background is fabric painted, the bee, flowers, leaves and stems are all three dimensional and made using three-dimensional techniques. Unfortunately, this doesn't show particularly well on the photos, so please take a look at the depth of the piece to get an idea of the overall effect.
