A young fox comes to claim a territory of his own but this territory is already taken by a mature fox. A standoff commences. The impression is that neither fox wants to fight, their tails wrapped around their bodies cowering down to the ground. The intruder is not leaving. The mature male attacks pushing his full body weight against the youngster in a show of strength. Still not leaving, the mature fox attacks biting and wrestling, pushing the youngster to the floor. Expanding their jaws as wide as they can, they show their dominance and power.

A number of techniques and mediums were used in the creation of this piece. The background is fabric painted and the foxes were achieved through quilting, painting and embroidery. These techniques create the different textures from the soft fur of the foxes to their sharp teeth. Unfortunately, the three-dimensional relief doesn't show particularly well in the photos, so please take a look at the depth of the piece to get an idea of the overall effect.
