As the winter days come to a close and the evenings become lighter, the garden starts to form a blaze of colour. Though none as rich and full of nectar than the crocus. This early harvest is like a magnet to bumblebees, who vibrate with excitement as they feast on its delights.
A number of techniques and mediums were used in the creation of this piece. The background is fabric painted and the bees, crocuses and leaves were achieved through quilting, applique, embroidery, textile techniques. These techniques create the different textures from the crocus flowers to the delicate bee wings.
