From Me To You
As a soft summer breeze blows through the garden it catches the heads of the coneflower, sending its stems swaying back and forth. A White-Tailed Bumblee Bee is attracted to the scent of the pollen drifting in the air. Hovering above a particularly full flower she waits for the opportunity to land and smother herself in the abundant yellow dust.
A number of techniques and mediums were used in the creation of this piece. The background is fabric painted and the bees and coneflower were achieved through quilting, applique, embroidery, textile techniques. These techniques create the different textures from the flowers to the delicate bee wings.
