Jenny Wren
The wren is one of the few birds to be active in our gardens all year round and unlike other garden birds the wren survives solely on insect and spiders. Here a wren uses this elegant wildflower to poise and catch its prey.
A number of techniques and mediums were used in the creation of this piece. The background is fabric painted and the wren, flower, buds and fly wings were achieved through quilting, applique, embroidery, techniques. These techniques create the different textures from the warm feathers of the wren to the delicate petals.
