Why is it that the fruits always look best at the top?
Perhaps its the sun making them sweeter or is it just the desire to want the unreachable? This rabbit surrounded by tasty pea pods is having the same dilemma. His eyes have become transfixed by a young pod dangling just out of his reach. He stretches up as far as he can, mouth open he readies himself to bite down on a sweet crunchy pea pod.
A number of techniques and mediums were used in the creation of this piece. The background is fabric painted and the rabbit and peas, pods and leaves were achieved through quilting, appliqué, painting and embroidery. These techniques create the different textures from the soft fur of the rabbit to the fleshy pea pods.
