As the weather warms, small pleasures can be found all around the garden, even in the smallest of insects. As the day warms and light hits the unfurling ferns, two ladybirds clamber and climb its many thongs to bask in the warmth of the sun.
A number of techniques and mediums were used in the creation of this piece. The background is fabric painted and the ladybirds and ferns were achieved through quilting, applique, embroidery, techniques. These techniques create the different textures from the spotty ladybird to the unfurling fern.
