Spiralling Foxgloves

Spiralling Foxgloves

Caught in the gusses of wind a Wood-mouse clings to the spiralling stems of the foxglove. Wrapped around its trumpet like flowers, its feet hold on tighly as the foxgloves sways back and forth.

A number of techniques and mediums were used in the creation of this piece. The background is fabric painted and the mouse, flower, stems and leaf was achieved through quilting, applique, embroidery, textile techniques. These techniques create the different textures from the soft fur of the mouse to the veins of the leaf.
