That's The Spot

The woodland floor has been carpeted with a sea of bluebells, setting the woodland alight with the glow of purple as the evening begins to set in. A young badger has ventured out of its sett to explore the surrounding woodland, to the Badgers inconvenience it has an itchy spot behind it ear. It sits amongst the bluebells squishing them in the process and has a good itch, ah 'That's The Spot'!

A number of techniques and mediums were used in the creation of this piece. The background is fabric painted the badger and bluebells were achieved through quilting, appliqué, painting and embroidery. These techniques create the different textures from the soft warm fur of the badger to the delicate flowers of the bluebells. Unfortunately, the three-dimensional relief doesn't show particularly well in the photos, so please take a look at the depth of the piece to get an idea of the overall effect.
