The Dartford Warbler

The winters fog has engulfed the land into a misty grey. The sun tries its best to burn through but to no avail. But this fog has given this Dartford Warbler the safety to forage the winter hedgerows, which he will get to after he's had a stretch!
A number of techniques and mediums were used in the creation of this piece. The background is fabric painted and the wabler and vegetation were achieved through quilting, applique, embroidery, techniques. These techniques create the different textures from the soft warm feathers of the warbler to the juciy berries. Unfortunately, the three-dimensional relief doesn't show particularly well in the photos, so please take a look at the depth of the piece to get an idea of the overall effect.
