The Wrens Chorus
This piece is being exhibited at Cotehele Gallery (Nation Trust), if you are interested in purchasing this piece please email me first at firstname.lastname@example.org
The old weathered tap has become pittered and discoloured but has lasted the test of time. Now ivy wraps and intertwines its many stems around as it climbs closer to the light. Happily bobbing around in the garden a Wren finds the perfect spot to sing its morning chorus, the old tap. Standing tall and proud it lifts its head and the air is filled with its beautiful song.
A number of techniques and mediums were used in the creation of this piece. The background is fabric painted and the wren, tap and ivy were achieved through quilting, applique, embroidery, techniques. These techniques create the different textures from the soft warm feathers of th wren to the cold metal of the tap. Unfortunately, the three-dimensional relief doesn't show particularly well in the photos, so please take a look at the depth of the piece to get an idea of the overall effect.
