Whats Coming Up?

July 28, 2018

Its been a pretty busy time for me preparing for a multitude of forthcoming exhibitions and creating commissions. With this in mind, I thought it would be a good time for me to share with you the events and exhibitions I will be participating in, in the second half of this year. I am always looking for new opportunities so if any pop up along the way I will keep you informed. If in doubt check the news and events page on my website: https://www.nsltextileart.co.uk/news-and-events

Starting from the first, I am taking part in a Wildlife Exhibition at Dartmoor Zoological Park which started on the 23rd of this month and will finish on the 30th of August. I am exhibiting four original pieces and a selection of limited edition prints. Work includes 'Pounce!, The Moorland Drop, The Last Acorn and Four Little Owls'. Check out the zoo's website for opening times.
(For those who don't agree with zoos, I am glad to say this is a conservation zoo, they do a huge amount of research and good work for wildlife.)

This year I will be exhibiting in Tavistocks Annual Summer Art Exhibition in the town hall from the 1st August to 5th August. They will be open each day from 10:00am- 4:30 pm. The exhibition is made up of all professional artists living in the Tamar Valley.

The Cornish Seal Sanctuary is celebrating their 60th anniversary this year and have asked me to donate a piece of art for their secret auction. On the 1st September, they will have a private event where 200 invited guests will attend including celebrity guests such as Brian May, Chris Evans, Ben Ainsley, Helen Glover, David Cameron, Jenny Agutter, Dawn French and many more. All funds raised will be used to continue seal rescue, rehabilitation and release.

I am excited to say that this year I will be holding my first Open Studio! As part of 'Drawn To The Valley's open studio event starting on the 22nd September to the 30th of September. I will be opening my studio to the public, so it's a great chance to look around my new studio space, see where I work, my inspiration and see my latest works. For more information check out the link where there is a brochure of all the open studios, I'm number 9!!! https://drawntothevalley.co.uk/events/detail/our-summer-exhibition-and-open-studios-2018/

I am even more excited to say that I will be exhibiting in 'The Royal Opera Arcade Gallery' in Pall Mall, London from 22nd- 30th September. I have been preparing for this for a while and I will be exhibiting three large pieces of art as well as two medium. All five-pieces are intricate with fine detailing and have pushed my creativity. I still haven't completed all the pieces though here's a sneak peak of a couple!

Winning an award for my machine embroidery given to me by the Embroidery Guild for my winning piece 'Skylarks Beneath'. The piece will be exhibited in 'The Knitting and Stitching Show' at the Alexandra Palace London on the 11th-14th October and at Harrogate on the 22nd- 25th November.

I will be exhibiting in Coteheles (National Trust) winter exhibition starting on the 4th November- 6th January.

My work can also still be seen at Cotehele's summer exhibition and at Polperro in the Ebenezer Gallery.

Phew! I'm tired just from writing all the exhibitions down let alone all the art behind them!!! If you get a chance pop along to any event or exhibition that takes your fancy, your continued support is very much appreciated.
