A Wren's Secret Garden

A tiny wren perched atop a wild garlic leaf is surrounded by a sea of delicate white flowers. Singing a sweet, lilting tune, its voice carrying across the woodland and filling the air with tranquillity. For a moment, the world seemed to stand still as the wren's song echoed the simple pleasures of life.
 
A number of techniques and mediums were used in the creation of this piece. The background is fabric painted and the wren, leaf and blossom were achieved through quilting, applique, embroidery, and textile techniques.
