Willow Dreams Awaken

In the tender blush of early spring, a goldfinch perches upon the budding branches of a pussy-willow, its soft catkins kissed by the promise of bloom. With a radiant yellow petal clasped delicately in its beak, the bird seems a part of the willow’s awakening, a golden thread woven into the season's quiet rebirth.
 
Several techniques and mediums were used in the creation of this piece. The background is fabric painted and the Goldfinch, catkins, and blooms were achieved through quilting, applique, embroidery, and textile techniques.
