Plum-Perfect Perch

High in the tangled boughs of a damson tree, a little wood mouse pauses, its paws curled gently around a branch as dusky plums hang like jewels beside it. The warm hush of late summer wraps around the orchard as the mouse surveys its treasure trove, nestled in a haven of green and deep violet.
 
Several techniques and mediums were used in the creation of this piece. The background is fabric painted and the Wood Mouse, damsoms and leaves were achieved through quilting, applique, embroidery, and textile techniques.
