Beneath the Camellia Light

Perched quietly beneath the luminous white camellia blooms, the Tree Sparrow rests in a moment of gentle shelter, framed by evergreen leaves traced with winter’s quiet fire. This piece captures the hush of a garden in bloom — where feather and flower meet, and even the smallest bird is held in soft, enduring light.
 
Several techniques and mediums were used in the creation of this piece. The background is fabric painted and the Tree Sparrow, flowers and leaves were achieved through quilting, applique, embroidery, and textile techniques.
