The Rose’s Companion

Amid the pale pink blossoms of a wild dog rose, a bullfinch settles with quiet confidence, its rich tones deepened by the softness that surrounds it. There is a gentle belonging here a meeting of colour and form where bird and bloom seem made for one another.
 
Several techniques and mediums were used in the creation of this piece. The background is fabric painted and the Long Tailed Tit, flowers, and leaves were achieved through quilting, applique, embroidery, and textile techniques.
