A Beautiful Gem

In the lush green forage of the Rainforest, this brightly coloured Hibiscus bloom like a beacon for Hummingbirds, who can not resist the lure of its sweet nectar.
 
Several techniques and mediums were used in the creation of this piece. The background is fabric painted and the hummingbirds and flowers were achieved through quilting, applique, embroidery, and three-dimensional techniques.
