A Mothers Love

Being a firm protective mother, she has avoided leading predators to her newly born fawn by resisting the temptation to check on her. Now it's dawn she hurries to check on her sleeping fawn, happy to see she is safe hiding amongst the fern leaves. 
 
A number of techniques and mediums were used in the creation of this piece. The background is fabric painted and the fawn, deer, and fern were achieved through quilting, applique, embroidery, textile techniques.
