The Hoving Hummingbird
Listening through the many calls of wildlife in the Rainforest, you can maybe be able to hear the soft humming tune of the Hummingbird as its wings beat together. Beating its wings up to 80 times a second, it seamlessly hovers in place, readying itself to feed on the brightly blooming Hibiscus.
A number of techniques and mediums were used in the creation of this piece. The background is fabric painted and the Hummingbird, branches, leaves and flowers were achieved through quilting, applique, embroidery, textile techniques.
