Crest Among Crystals

Amid the crystalline frost, a Crested Tit perches on the fiery berries of a Firethorn bush, its delicate frame poised to take flight. The cool morning light catches its crested crown as it hesitates, a fleeting moment of stillness before the spark of motion carries it into the winter air.
 
Several techniques and mediums were used in the creation of this piece. The background is fabric painted and the Crested Tit, frost and Firethorn were achieved through quilting, applique, embroidery, and textile techniques.
