Echos Of Summer

Perched delicately on a towering seedhead, the swallow basks in the warmth of the summer sky, its wings poised as if ready to catch the breeze. With the world stretching out beneath, the moment is still, a quiet celebration of the freedom that only the open air can offer.
 
Several techniques and mediums were used in the creation of this piece. The background is fabric painted and the Swallow, seed head and leaves were achieved through quilting, applique, embroidery, and textile techniques.
