Following The Leader

After a pleasant afternoon swimming in the pond exploring, and feeding, these five ducklings spot their mum leaving the pond. Eager to catch up they run after her forming a line, and shaking off the water trapped in their downy feathers. But as always there is one left behind who springs out of the water and keenly chases after the others.
 
A number of techniques and mediums were used in the creation of this piece. The background is fabric painted and the ducklings, grass, and, sand, rocks and water were achieved through quilting, applique, embroidery, textile techniques.
