Jewels Of The Forest

Sitting like exquisite gems, this pair of Bee Hummingbirds perch happily. They rest in the glistening sun with stomachs full from drinking the plentiful nectar from the Heliconia flowers.
 
Several techniques and mediums were used in the creation of this piece. The background is fabric painted and the hummingbirds and flowers were achieved through quilting, applique, embroidery, and three-dimensional techniques.
