Passing Acquaintance

Amongst the lush green leaves found on the water edges, this inquisitive duckling explores his surroundings when he makes a new acquaintance, a delicate snail. Unnerved he slowly makes his way forward to say hello, as he does the snail lifts his head up to make his acquaintance.
 
Several techniques and mediums were used in the creation of this piece. The background is fabric painted and the duckling, snail and ground were achieved through quilting, applique, embroidery, and three-dimensional techniques.
