Tropical Beauty

The many beautiful colours of the Rufous-crested Coquette Hummingbird feathers shine in the light of the setting sun. Relaxing upon the delicate blooms of nectar-rich Monkey Bush, he warms himself in his peaceful surroundings.
 
A number of techniques and mediums were used in the creation of this piece. The background is fabric painted and the Hummingbird, branches, leaves and flowers were achieved through quilting, applique, embroidery, textile techniques.
